Malone is here!

Our granddaughter Malone Lenie Schaefer was born on January 17, 2008 at 1.45pm after 5 hours of labor.

On the left you can see the charge nurse holding her as she emerged and you can see her daddy Cameron's face as he sees his daughter for the first time.

It was an amazing experience! She was bigger than we anticipated at 20.5 inches and 7 lbs 3oz with a head of light brown hair that grows low on her temples just like her daddy's.

The joy she has brought is clearly written on her mommy's face. We fight to hold her.

She sleeps well and feeds well and does what follows a good feed well also.

You can see more pictures of her and her doting family at my flickr page. Click on

New Year's News

No baby yet, but lots of talk about leadership and technology and the stock market.

Marelize taught Christelle how to apply eye makeup this morning. Christelle had her hair cut on new year's eve and suddenly looks all grown up.

Cameron is writing away at his blog. Chris is doing AFMIN work remotely. I am working on my online course lessons.

Marelize has a doctor's appointment this afternoon, so we might know more. If the baby is not imminent, we will leave for Tuscaloosa tomorrow. Sob.

Just started reading Glenn Packiam's book Butterfly in Brazil. It is published by Tyndale and is in a beautiful format. The content is truly blessing me. My January recommendation.
